Matthew 22:37-38
The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy is going to fall.
The word ''Pisa'' means ''marshy land,'' which is why the tower began leaning even before it was completed. Not to mention, it was built on a foundation that was only 10 feet deep!
For a long time, scientists would travel every single year to measure the building's slow descent. They said that the 179-foot tower moved about one-twentieth of an inch in any given year, and it moved to the point where the building was 17 feet out of plumb.
When you do the math... this building should have fallen years ago... and it probably would have if it weren't for the restoration project in 2008 that restored its foundation...
Scientists are now saying, with its new... strong foundation, the tower may stand for another 200 years or so... as long as there aren't any major earth-shaking movements or storms.
I don't know about you - but for me, there have been times when I have personally felt like a ''leaning tower of Christianity.'' NOW... There's no doubt that I'm a Christian... There's no questioning if I love the Lord or if I'm committed to His word...
But there have been times, when I didn't feel like I was giving God my very best. Have you been there before? In those times... When I consider my life and my faithfulness and my obedience-there have been moments where I just wasn't sure God could look at me and honestly say, ''Well done, good and faithful servant.''
We're all on a journey with the Lord, but if we are being honest, some of us aren't in a place with God that we're proud of.
Some of us are doing our own thing, and pursuing our own dreams, and walking our own path... and when we stop to consider how God would view our lives today, we know without a shadow of a doubt, that our foundation has been built on marshy land, and we're not standing tall, or walking by faith, or submitting to God ...
