Introduction

1. I can still remember when I realized for the first time what a big job I had on my hands as a parent. It was when my first son, James, was just a toddler and beginning to talk and walk. I don't remember what he did, but it was something he should not have done. I looked at him and said a word that every parent learns to say pretty quickly and that is, ''No!'' At that point, something took place that happens in the life of every parent with every toddler. What the parent intended as a command is seen by the child as a beginning of a negotiation. The child gives the parent this look [Jody - show photo of questioning face, etc]. Then you look at the child with this response [Jody - show Clint Eastwood ''Do you feel lucky punk?'']

2. Even though in a way it is funny it is also very serious, because it dawned on me at that moment that one of the greatest responsibilities I had was to teach my son the difference between right and wrong and how to make the decision to do what is right. It is indeed a monumental moment in your life when you realize you do have to make decisions. Decisions can make you and they can break you. They can put scars on your soul or stars in your heart. One bad decision can ruin your life forever. One good decision can redeem your life forever. As you go through life, you will frequently rejoice over the good ones and you will fervently regret the bad ones. I can tell you I have more than a few do-over decisions in my life. There were choices I made and decisions that I messed up that I wish I could do over.

3. There is a fault that is universal for all of us and that is wrong decisions take you down wrong roads. Right decisions take you down right roads. The wonderful news for those of us who are believers is that we are not on our own in trying to make the right decisions. We are not left to our own ingenuity or intelligence in try ...
