In the last verse of Chapter 1 of Jonah we saw the Lord prepared this big fish for Jonah. Remember? Jonah did not know this big fish was prepared for Jonah's arrival.
Use your sanctified imagination for a moment. Jonah knew he was the problem and he must have thought God was throwing him away. The last verse in Chapter 1 reads as:
Jonah 1:17
Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah did not see the whole scope of what the Lord was doing. Jonah only saw what was in front of his face. Jonah thought he would die as the Lord disciplined him. God sees the whole scope of Jonah's life. All Jonah knew was the fish was swimming him to Hell. But Jonah found himself still alive. Surprised, Jonah then turned his focus above.

Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish's belly.
Jonah stopped and looked at his current situation; inside the big fish. From inside the fish he spiritually looks up and calls out to God.
He was sitting in darkness, alone, and none of his family was with him. Jonah did not have a cell phone, television, food, microwave, and it was dark and wet. Jonah was trapped, he was in captivity, and he did not know what to do. Jonah had no idea the Lord prepared and ordered this fish to swallow Jonah whole.
The real problem for many of us is our hard head. We do not see what the Lord has prepared for us. God sees the whole scope of our life and we only see what is in front of our faces. We only cry out to the Lord when we face a crisis in our lives. OMG! Did you hear the wisdom of the Lord?
In Jonah's disobedience to the voice of God; the Lord never threw Jonah away. We call this God's mercy and grace. God did not throw Jonah away as the Lord will not throw you away. The Lord has gr ...
