Romans 10:1-13
Next week we will complete our ''Authentic'' series. I had announced that today's message would be ''Becoming an Authentic Christian'' but on Tuesday morning, God's spirit spoke to me and said, ''Before you can become, you must be birthed.'' So, today's message is ''Birthing an Authentic Christian.'' Please turn to Romans 10.
Birthing is big stuff. If you don't believe me, ask any mom! It's a process, it's an event, and it's what Jesus says is REQUIRED to be saved. His exact words (2 times) were, ''Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.'' This is pretty clear, concise, and it presents a challenge for our present culture. Many miss the call of Christ for Salvation and substitute (unintentionally) what they think for what scripture teaches.
Many years ago, I heard my mentor and friend, Dr. Ted Traylor, make this statement, ''The preacher's message should comfort the hurting and hurt the comfortable.'' His words have stuck with me for 30 years. If you marry that statement to the words of D. L. Moody, who said, ''The Bible is not given for our information, but for our transformation'', then you grasp the impetus, the motivation, the heart-cry, and the desire of this message as well as this entire series of messages.
While I have no desire to be mean or offensive, my prayerful and personal goal is to challenge every person under the sound of my voice about this thing of being BIRTHED as an authentic Christian. Honestly, my heartbeat is to lovingly force every person here to 'test and examine' yourself before the Lord as to the true state of your soul. READ TEXT.
