THE FREEDOM OF SEXUAL CONTROL
Exodus 20:14
We have to keep reminding ourselves the Ten Commandments are
principles for maintaining freedom. They come directly from the One
who created life, who intends us to have an abundant life (John
10:10). Freedom is one of the Bible's favorite synonyms for
salvation. In John 8:36, our Lord Christ said of Himself: "If the Son
sets you free, then you will be really free" (GNB). Galatians 5:1
declares: "Freedom is what we have - Christ has set us free! Stand,
then as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves
again" (GNB).
Be aware, and that keenly, it is in the name of freedom, not
restraint, that God commands: "You shall not commit adultery" (Exodus
20:14, NASB).
The sixth planek in freedom-s platform is "Thou shalt not kill"
(Exodus 20:13). Your freedom to live is dependent upon others' freedom
to live. A free society works to make sure everyone has the right and
freedom to live. This seventh principle for keeping free rests upon
the same foundation - the fact that people, all people, are sacred.
Each of us is made in the image of God. We must not violate the
sacredness of another's personality. We don't toy or tamper with the
affections of other people.
You and I are interested in what God's Word has to say about any
subject. We believe the Bible is His Word for us. one biblical truth
is clear to all who read it: God takes sexual sin seriously. Exodus
20:14 commands, "Thou shalt not commit adultery."
Surely you know that the wicked will not possess Gods Kingdom.Do
not fool yourselves; people who are immoral or who worship idols or are
adulterers or homosexual perverts or who steal or are greedy or are
drunkards or who slander others or are thieves--none of these will
possess God's Kingdom (1 Cor. 6:9-10, GNB).
Revelation 21:8 calls the roll of unredeemed people destined for
