Where Is God?

2 Timothy 4:16-18
Introduction
1. One of the most popular cartoon strips of all time was ''Peanuts'' by Charles Schultz. He had a way of just capturing the things we go through in life and how we feel when we do. Nobody did that better than Charlie Brown. In one of his cartoons, Charlie Brown is at the beach and he is building this beautiful sandcastle. He has worked on it all day long and he finally finishes it. He stands back to admire his masterpiece when all of a sudden, a huge wave crashes in and knocks the whole thing down. With that sad forlorn look that only Charlie could have he is looking at a wet piece of sand and saying, ''There must be a lesson here, but I don't know what it is.''
2. There is not a greater teacher in life than trouble. Quite honestly, you learn a lot more about yourself and about life in the hard times than you ever will in the good times. We are in one of those hard times. We are talking about the sandcastles of money, 401Ks, investments, and jobs that have been wiped out by a viral wave called ''Covid-19.'' We can always count on when these times hit, people from all stripes and sorts, people of faith and no faith, religion and no religion, church and no church, come out of the woodwork and they ask the big question, ''Where is God?''
3. By the way, it is interesting that we don't worry about where God is in the good times. We kind of stick him on the shelf, but in the bad times we pull him off the shelf and stick a pin in him and try to hold him unto account.
4. There is a man in the Bible who was probably outside of Jesus, the best known, and his name was Paul. If anybody had a right to be asking that question it was him. He blazed a trail for the Christian faith that no one else has come close to doing. He became the greatest missionary, the greatest apologist, the greatest church planter, the greatest evangelist and the greatest theologian that the world has ever known. What did he ...
