IT'S TIME TO PRAY
Joel 2:12-17
Our president has called this nation to prayer. He has asked
that we set aside this coming Thursday as a day of national prayer.
Joel called the people of his day to prayer. He said: "Blow the
trumpet..."
It's time to pray.
In chapter 1 and the beginning of chapter 2, Joel describes the
invasion of locusts upon the land. In the Old Testament, a plague of
locusts was a much used picture of great trouble. Nothing outside
annihilating war was worse than a locust invasion.
Flying locusts would come in such great numbers they would
blacken the sky and blot out the light of the sun.
Crawling locusts would come,line after line, like an invading
army, conquering every inch of the land, devouring any green and
growing thing and leave nothing behind but larvae to hatch ...
