There are things that can make a difference in life when it enters into the arena. A light can make a difference if you are in the darkness! Salt and seasoning can make a difference to how something tastes. A fresh coat of paint can make a difference on a scarred and scratched wall. A new start in a new city, a new job with new employees can make a difference. A kind word or an encouraging word can make a difference in someone's life. The right person that enters into your life can make a difference. There are things that can make a difference in life.
This past week the NBA held its drawing for the NBA draft. The drawing is really called the draft lottery. The real interest is what team will get the number one pick. It's really about who will have the rights to the number one basketball player in the country. There is a young man by the name of Zion Williamson. He is a freshman at Duke University. He really did not go to Duke to finish his education. He went because he was the best player in South Carolina; he was voted Mr. Basketball. He went to Duke because he knew that Duke would make him better, and his chance to be at the top was at Duke. He is 6 feet and 7 inches tall; he weighs 285 pounds. He won every major award a freshman could win. He was the National College player of the year, ACC Rookie of the year, ACC Tournament MVP. He was the bomb.
In the lottery, the New Orleans Pelicans ended up with the number one pick. They won thirty-three games last year and lost forty-nine. Their best player has asked to be traded, their team moral is low, their attendance is down, their sponsors are reserved. But when Zion was chosen, the next day ticket sales went out the roof. Sponsors were calling offering partnership. The city placed billboards up saying, ''Come to Zion City. The hill of Zion is now in New Orleans.'' Zion has not played a game, signed a contract, n ...
