I Thessalonians 1:3-10
For 3 weeks now, we have been talking about ''Authentic'', and more to the point, ''The Authentic Church'' and we defined the church like this. (SCREEN) Next week, we will begin a few weeks about the ''Authentic Christian.'' Today, we complete this part of our series. We have taken our cue from Paul's letter to Thessalonica.
Let's read our text again. 1 Thessalonians 1:3-10
Heavenly Father, would you use these words, your words that you gave Paul for your church, to speak into our hearts. Penetrate our pre-conceived notions with your spirit, prick our hearts with your Holy Spirit like you did at Pentecost, and pour into us your plan for your Kingdom through this, YOUR CHURCH. Speak truth to us, in us, for us, and through us. We plead with you to do your work today, in the Wonderful, Magnificent, and Holy name of Jesus. Amen.
My translation begins with ''We Recall'' while other translation say, ''Remember without ceasing'', ''constantly bearing in mind,'' or 'having ever in your mind'; It matters not what the words are, the thought is this ''WE RECALL'', ''WE REMEMBER.'' I began there to ask, ''Do you remember?'' DO you remember any of the things which have been given over the last three weeks? Most people laugh when ask if they remember what the preacher said. Candidly, from my heart, these are not sermons, rather they are messages. Messages from His heart to ours.
This scripture tells us why we should write it down and recall or remember it. It was said in the presence or the sight of our God and Father. You remember Him, the 'living and true God.' I suggest to you that the very reason God gave us two ear and one mouth is the same reason that God's word says, ''Be quick to hear and slow to speak.'' By the way, He put in us a computer (between our ears) that gets rebooted every night - so the ram memory is clear and the hard drive is refreshed. Our ( ...
