Psalm 22

Bill Newell was a pastor's son. Caused his family great mental anguish. His father sensed that his son needed to be under the influence of daily Bible teaching, so he wrote a letter to Dr. R. A. Torrey, pastor of Moody Church, and president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Dr. Torrey replied to the letter, ''We're running a Bible training ground, not a reform school.''

The father persisted and finally his son was granted admission based on the conditions that he faithfully attend classes, obey all of the rules, and stop by Dr. Torrey's office every day. Dr. Torrey later said, ''I never saw a young man with as many problems as Billy Newell.''

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified.
Knowing not it was for me he died

His CONVERSION
By God's Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I'd spurned,

His CONSECRATION
Now I've giv'n to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
Of Calvary.

His CONTEMPLATION
Oh, the love that drew salvation's plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!

His CONCLUSION
Mercy there was great and grace was free.
Pardon there was multiplied to me.
There my burdened soul found liberty.
At Calvary!
