Series: Christ's Heart for Sinners

John 6:35-37
Sin alienates us from God because he is holy and without sin.
Adam and Eve were put out of the garden of Eden when they broke God's command not to eat of the tree of knowledge.
People want to think that God will accept them as they are.
That somehow, he will just overlook the sins they have committed.
The truth is a wall exists between them and God which means
they cannot have fellowship with him until they are forgiven.
Paul reminds believers who they were before they trusted Christ.
Ephesians 2:12 Remember that you were separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to
the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God.
Matthew Henry - ''They had no hope beyond this life -
no hope in God, no hope of spiritual and eternal blessings.''
No matter how good a person is they have to trust Christ for their sins to be forgiven. You are either a believer or an unbeliever.
Ray Steadman - ''The one thing which can be said of all pagans, no matter what their background, is that they are 'separated
from Christ.' If you do not come to Christ, you are pagan.''
Background :1-34
Jesus had compassion on the people who had come to listen to him so he feed the 5,000 men plus women and children by multiplying the five loaves and two fish (:9).
The next day they crossed the Sea of Galilee to find him again.
Jesus said they only came because they wanted another free meal.
He challenged them to believe he could offer them spiritual food that would satisfy their spiritual need, not just their physical need.
People tend to focus on their physical needs and want them met, but they don't really think about their spiritual needs which only Christ can meet. The physical takes precedent over the spiritual.
