A Call to Share (4 of 4)
Series: Go, Love, Serve
Jordan Easley
Acts 4
I read a story this week about an old man that placed an order for 1 burger, 1 large order of French fries and 1 large drink. He then unwrapped the burger and carefully cut it in half, placing half of it in front of his wife. He then carefully counted out the French fries, dividing them into 2 equal piles and then neatly placed one pile in front of his wife.
He took a sip of the drink, then his wife took a sip... and then she set the cup down directly in between them. As the man began to eat his burger, the people around them were looking over and whispering. Obviously, they were thinking, ''That poor old couple... all they can afford is one meal for the two of them.''
As the people whispered, and the old man began to eat his fries, a young man came up to the table and politely offered to buy another meal for the couple. The old man said, they were just fine - they were used to sharing everything. Well... People closer to the table noticed the little old lady hadn't taken a bite. She sat there watching her husband eat and occasionally taking turns sipping the drink.
And so again, the young man came over and said, ''Please, let me buy you another meal.'' This time the old woman responded and said, ''No thank you sir. We're used to sharing everything.''
Finally, as the old man finished and was wiping his face neatly with the napkin, the young man again came over to the little old lady who had yet to eat a single bite of food and he asked her, ''Ma'am... What is it exactly... that you are waiting for?'' She looked at that young man and said... My husband... PICTURE] is still using our teeth.
For some of us, sharing is just a part of life. From the time we are little, our parents taught us to share. We probably don't share our teeth, but we share food. We share secrets. We share wisdom and experiences. We even share our resources.
For those of you who love sharing... you ...
