INTRO: THE UNEXPECTED HEALING

A. BEGIN A NEW SERIES: GOD UNDERSTANDS.

1. WHEN YOU KNOW THAT GOD UNDERSTANDS. THAT HE
HAS THE KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT YOU NEED AND THE
POWER TO MEET THAT NEED YOUR WHOLE LIFE IS
CHANGED AND LIBERATED.

2. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE ARE NOT ALWAYS SURE GOD
DOES UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE GOING THRU, NEED.

ILL. WHEN YOU ARE ALONE. WHEN YOU ARE IN NEED,
CONFUSED, NEEDING ANSWERS

DO YOU FEEL GOD UNDERSTANDS? Many will say yes, some
not sure.

ILL. DOES YOUR NEIGHBOR? YOUR FAMILY? YOUR BOSS?
YOUR TEENAGE CHILD? WHEN YOUR PROFESSOR? DO
THEY BELIEVE THAT A GOD IN HEAVEN IS RELATIVE TO
WHAT THEY ARE GOING THRU?

B. THE QUESTION FOR US IS JUST HOW PRACTICAL,
RELEVANT IS GOD FOR OUR WORLD

1. HOW DOES A GOD IN HEAVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT
WE ARE GOING THRU DOWN HERE?

2. IS THE WORD OF GOD RELEVANT AND PRACTICAL
FOR WHAT YOU OR OTHERS GOING THRU?

ILL. WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO SAY TO MODERN TEENAGER?
BUSINESSMAN? PERSON HOOKED ON INTERNET
PORNOGRAPHY? ABOUT RAP MUSIC, OR TWO INCOME
FAMILIES STRUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET

3. HOMOSEXUAL? WOMAN ON WELFARE? C.E.O. IN
BUENA VISTA? SINGLE MOM?

ILL. VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS BELIEVE IN GOD THEY
ARE NOT SURE HOW IT WORKS?

C. A GREATER PROBLEM; THEY BELIEVE IN GOD NOT THE
CHURCH.

1. THOUSANDS BELIEVE IN GOD BUT HAVE REJECTED
THE CHURCH

2. UNCARING

3. FAILED

4. OUT OF TOUCH, NOT RELEVANT OR PRACTICAL.

5. SO THEY STAY ON THE FRINGES, TRYING BY
THEMSELVES. STILL SEARCHING

ILL. TWO PEOPLE THIS PAST WEEK. LEFT AND RETURNING

1. BOTH HAD BEEN HURT, FELT LET DOWN,
WANDERING ALONE ON FRINGE

2. ONE COMING BACK HEALED. THE OTHER ON
FRINGE HURTING STILL.

D. GOOD NEWS; GOD UNDERSTANDS. HE IS HERE!

1. GOD UNDERSTANDS WHAT YOU ARE GOING THRU,
BATTLING AND WHAT YOU NEED.

2. HE IS HERE RIGHT NOW! IN THE MIDST ...
