Rebuilding Faith
Lenny Ports
2 Corinthians 11:24-28
I grew up on Long Island. We might have a funny accent, but we had some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is a road that runs parallel with the ocean front out in the Hamptons on the east end of Long Island. It is called Dune Rd. Some of the wealthiest people live there.
There have been countless hurricanes that hit the east end of Long Island, but the homeowners on Dune Road just clean up the debris and REBUILD their homes all over again. Every time they rebuild, they get smarter and smarter how to protect their homes for the next storm. You would think that they would just give up! But they don't. They have too much invested in their lives there. They have too much reputation to give up without rebuilding. They have placed so much value on their home and the prestige of owning a beach house on Dune Rd, AND they have the resources to rebuild! They have a heart to keep going.
How much more VALUE does your Heavenly Father put on you, that when you go through the ''hurricanes'' of life, when it feels like you have lost so much, that He has the resources to rebuild your faith again! As believers in Jesus Christ, we are not exempt from storms. We all have seasons of struggle when it comes to our faith in God. We all go through difficult seasons, or seasons of doubt, or circumstances that test our faith. As a matter of fact, our faith would never grow if we never had a trial. We would never really get the answers we need in life unless we had questions. We wouldn't really understand the FAITHFULNESS OF GOD if we never failed.
The truth is:
We all struggle
Our faith is tested
We all have weaknesses
None of us are exempt from trouble
The greatest tragedies in life are not the loss of a loved one, or a job loss, a financial devastation or a wayward child. The greatest tragedy is the loss of faith as a result of the circumstances we go through, BUT GOD IS IN THE BUSINESS OF REBUILDI ...
