Recently a Michael Packard, a Cape Cod lobster diver, got a small taste of the Jonah experience when he was nearly swallowed by a humpback whale.
''All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black,'' he told the Cape Cod Times... he went on... ''I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth'' ... I was completely inside; it was completely black,'' Packard said. ''I thought to myself, 'there's no way I'm getting out of here. I'm done, I'm dead.' All I could think of was my boys - they're 12 and 15 years old.'' - ''I saw light, and he started throwing his head side to side, and the next thing I knew I was outside (in the water.)''

It has been said that the story of Jonah is the story of the Bible, that's true. - Themes like Sin, Judgment, Grace, Repentance, Mission... they run through this book. - It's a story about a man who ran from God and was pursued by God. It's a story about a loving God that pursues sinners and shows them compassion.
Yes, it's the story of the Bible. - And it's OUR STORY. - We have all ran from God. If you are a Christian it's because God came after you!
The word GREAT appears 14 times in Jonah. - A great city, a great wind, a great fish... but don't miss our GREAT GOD. G
Cambell Morgan said, ''Men have been looking so hard at the great fish that they have failed to see the great God.''

Jonah 1:1-16 - Now the word of the LORD ...
