INTRO.: ASK YOU TO JOIN ME AT THE MANAGER THIS
CHRISTMAS. THAT WE MIGHT WORSHIP CHRIST AND THAT WE
MIGHT LEARN WHAT REALLY MAKES CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS.

A. THE REAL SPIRIT AND MEANING OF CHRISTMAS IS NOT IN
THE GIFTS OR THE FOOD BUT IN THE HEART OF THOSE WHO
GATHERED THERE TO WORSHIP THE BIRTH OF THE GOD-MAN,
JESUS CHRIST

B. THE SCRIPTURE SAYS THAT OUR SAVIOR THE SON OF THE
LIVING GOD WAS BORN IN A STABLE AND PLACED IN A
MANAGER AND THERE HE WAS WORSHIPPED AND ADORED.

1. a STABLE was probably a cold, dark cave where
animals were kept

2. the MANGER is a feeding trough that held the
animal's food.

3. while Mary gave birth to the Christ Child alone
Joseph did his best to clean out the barn to make it
as fit as he could for the King of Kings' arrival.

C. PERHAPS YOU HAVE KNOWN THE JOY, ACCEPTANCE OF BEING
INVITED TO A WONDERFUL PARTY OR CELEBRATION THIS
CHRISTMAS.

1. in the mail you received a beautiful card inviting
you to a special celebration in honor of the season.

2. PERHAPS THIS YEAR YOU WERE INVITED TO WASHINGTON
D.C. OR TO A RECEPTION FOR A GREAT PERSON and you felt
the honor and the pride of being asked to witness and
to honor someone of great importance.

3. there gathered were dignitaries, and honorable and
famous people from all walks of life gathered to
welcome, honor and acknowledge someone who life was
counted by others important.

ILL. I WAS ONCE ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN SUCH A
GATHERING WITH FAMOUS PEOPLE. AS I WALKED INTO THAT
ROOM I FELT OUT OF PLACE, OVERWHELMED! LIKE A CHILD
FROM AN ORPHANAGE GOING INTO THE HOME OF THE VERY
BLESSED AND BEING ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR FAMILY
CHRISTMAS

D. BUT TO BE INVITED TO THAT GREATEST RECEPTION OF
ALL! TO BE INVITED TO ATTEND THE ARRIVAL OF THE KING
OF ...
