Leviticus 10:1-7
If you have your Bible, turn to Leviticus, chapter 10. We want to talk today about The Fire of Holiness.
Now, back in the early 1990's I was selling chemicals for Nalco Chemical Company. And one of my accounts - I had many accounts in downtown Houston, a lot of large commercial buildings - one of my accounts was One Shell Plaza in downtown Houston. It was a 50-story skyscraper. It was built in 1971 and at the time that it was built it was the tallest poured concrete building in the world. I like the guys that worked there. It was a Heinz property, Gerald D. Heinz. But one day I went to service that account and check on their water treatment chemicals, and the police were there and the ambulance was there, and they had a huge accident in their switchgear room in the basement. They had some electricians working in there on that high-voltage power that came into the building. And something happened. I didn't know what happened, but there was something that was done, an accident occurred, and two men, if memory serves, were badly, badly burned because the electricity arced and came out like fire and hit both of these men. They were taken to the hospital, and I lost track of what happened to them. I don't know if they lived or died.
You know, when electricity arcs, high-voltage electricity, trouble is going to happen because there is so much power in electricity, like a bolt of lightning. And if you are near it when it arcs, you are going to be very fortunate to live.
Well, today, we want to talk in Leviticus, chapter 10, The Fire of God's Holiness. We want to talk about two guys, two very respected guys, two very privileged guys. They were the two oldest sons of Aaron. They were part of the Aaronic priesthood, separated for this special holy task of representing God to the people and the people to God.
