We're just glad that you are here. Live-stream is good, but there's nothing like being here. It's just a totally different experience.
Well, as some of you know, Debbie and I have been speaking with Family Life Ministries now for almost 15 years. We kind of started at the end of 2005, and then 2006 we began to speak. The Family Life Weekend to Remember starts on Friday night, and then, Sunday is a day where we separate out the men and the women. And Debbie will talk to the women about two things: about being a wife and being a mom. And me and the other male speaker, we'll talk to the guys about being a husband and being a dad. And when I do the dad talk, I always kind of start it out this way: I'll ask the guys, I'll say, ''Hey, guys, now, I want you to think about your dad, and I want you to shout one a word that comes to your mind when you think about your dad.'' And almost always it works this way: you get immediately positive responses, and people will shout out, ''Provider, Best Friend, Faithful, Hardworking, Kind,'' things like that, and they just keep going. And then, all of a sudden, after about 30 or 45 seconds into it, something switches, and somebody will say something like, ''Absent, Abusive, Distant, Mean, Scary, Impossible to please.'' You know, when you think about your dad what comes into your mind has to do with your experience with your dad. And for some it's positive, and for some it's negative. But now, when you switch gears, and you stop thinking about your earthly father and you start thinking about your heavenly Father, what comes into your mind? Theologian A. W. Tozer had this statement. I think it's one of the most profound I've ever heard. He says this: ''W ...
