I read about a frog. He wanted to know the future. He went to a fortune teller. He was a lonely frog, and he wondered what was going to happen to him. He wanted to know the future. He goes to the fortune teller. The fortune teller looks in her crystal ball and says, ''I see in your future a beautiful young woman. She is going to be very interested in you. She's going to be consumed with you. She's going to want to know all about you.'' And the frog got so excited. He goes, ''That's great! Where am I going to meet her? At a party? At a club? On a blind date?'' He said, ''No.'' She said, ''No - biology class!''
You know, all of us as human beings like to know the future. We're interested in future things. If you buy stocks, you would love to be able to know the future. If you remember the movie, Back to the Future, Biff got rich in Back to the Future because he knew the future. He knew what stocks to invest in and what to bet on and things like that. If you want to know what stocks to buy, you just follow me around and do the opposite of everything that I do and you'll do very, very well. I always buy high and sell low. We like the future. We like future things and the Bible is a book that is filled with prophecy. Prophecies are statements made today concerning the future.
Now, in the Old Testament, God gave scores and scores and scores and scores of prophecies concerning the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. But for every prophecy in the Old Testament concerning the first coming of Jesus, there are eight more prophecies concerning the second coming of Jesus. The problem that the Jews had when Jesus came the first time is, they didn't see that the Old Testament talked about two comings. They just saw the second coming.
