Party Like an Exile (10 of 10)
Series: The Gospel in Esther

Esther 9:1-23, 10:1-3
SUMMARY: In this message we consider the Jewish feast of Purim and how we can ''party like an exile.'' 1) Roll the Purim Dice. 2) Feel the Purim Spirit (unity). 3) Eat the Purim Feast.
Introduction: Last week, in connection with the sermon, I promoted my book, ''Stand Your Ground: The Biblical Foundation for Self-Defense.'' I sold all of the books we had and ordered another case so anyone who wanted one after we ran out can see me after the service. All of the proceeds went to Christianville in Haiti.
I found out later that someone Googled that book on Amazon WHILE I was talking about it in church and the first thing that came up, were the NEGATIVE reviews. Now, in my defense, there are 56 total reviews of the book, THREE of which are negative. The rest are four and five stars. So there! But I thought in the interest of fairness and balance, I should read from the three negative reviews. Here we go:
1) ''This guy is a joke.'' S.B.
2) ''I cringed.'' N.W.
3) ''It's okay, but I would not recommend it.'' K.D.
By the way if you bought this book...NO REFUNDS. Hey, wait a minute, look at those initials: S.B., N.W., K.D. That wouldn't be associate minister Scott Blount, Family minister Nate Wilkerson, and Worship minister Kent Drake, would it? C'mon man!
After the tables had been turned and the Jews had gained the victory over those who hated them, there was cause for great celebration.
Esther 9:20 ''Mordecai recorded these events, and he sent letters to all the Jews throughout the provinces of King Xerxes, near and far, to have them celebrate annually the fourteenth and fifteenth days of the month of Adar as the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one a ...
