The 2020 Summer Olympics finally took place, in 2021, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, but not without controversy. Due to another wave of COVID, and a new wave of the Delta Variant, the Olympic Committee contemplated another delay. Fortunately for those of us who love the Olympics as well as the athletes, they decided to allow the games to go on!
I found it somewhat amusing to see the Olympic signs in various venues that read:

It's NOT 2020! I wouldn't return to 2020 and relive it, if even I could. 2020 is history! It reminded me of churches that live in the past. That was our year!''
I'm glad I'm not a part of a church that lives in the past. It's not that we're not grateful for those who have gone before us and the sacrifices they made, because we are. But we're more grateful for the opportunities that today gives us for reaching people for Jesus. Every year should be our year of giving our best and all in getting the gospel to the lost.
I must admit I'm an Olympic fan; Winter and Summer. Perhaps like you, I find myself watching sports that I have no understanding of. I sit on the edge of my chair with heart racing and cheering them on, though I often have no clue what I'm watching.
For example, the first week of the Olympics included gymnastics and diving. I've never been much of a diver or a tumbler, but I'm fascinated at their abilities.
I watched in amazement the synchronized diving, as they dived from nearly 30 feet! They were impeccable! I watched our women's team excel on the Vault with perfection! I then watched our women's team on the uneven bars, flying through the air from one bar to the other flawle ...
