Peace in a Day of Trouble
Richard Bradley
Psalm 3:1-6

Today's text finds David in a day of trouble. Many of his days were troubling because it seems his lot in life was to be a man of trouble. The mystery of David's life is that as a man after God's own heart we would think he would have been immune from trouble. Actually, just the opposite was true. It made him a target for the enemy. We can have peace but David knew that peace at any price is too high a price to pay.

Today's truth is that we believers can have peace even in a day of trouble. God is on our side. He knows right where we are and why we need Him so desperately. David let that simple fact sink in and his peace of mind was the result.

Psalm 3:1-6

1 Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.
2 Many are they who say of me, ''There is no help for him in God.'' Selah
3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
4 I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah
5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.
7 Arise, O Lord; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people.

Look at how believers can have peace even in the midst of the most troubling of days.

PEACE IN A DAY OF TROUBLE IS NOT DEPENDENT ON OUR CIRCUMSTANCES

1 Lord, how they have increased who trouble me!
Many are they who rise up against me.
2 Many are they who say of me,
''There is no help for him in God.''
Selah

The word for ''many'' in verses 1 and 2 has to do with the idea of ''abundance.'' Abundance could have to do with number, quantity, or quality or all three. David examined his opposition and discovered the odds against him were staggering. Our ...
