Exodus 28.1-5, 6-14
Have you ever been in a worship gathering when the worship was so Spirit-filled, and the preaching was so Spirit-anointed that afterwards you thought to yourself, ''I believe that was a glimpse of heaven! If so, I cannot imagine the glory and wonder of heaven! It's going to be incredible!''
There's something about getting a glimpse of heaven from time to time that inspires us to continue walking by faith. It was while on the island of Patmos, the apostle John got a foretaste into the future which inspired him to remain faithful during times of great struggle and suffering. God gave him a glimpse of heaven which brought great strength and hope into his life and caused him to say in Revelation 22.20-21, ''He who testifies about these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon.' Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with everyone. Amen.'' And it all started with just a glimpse!
It was while in Joppa, Peter was praying on a rooftop and fell into a trance and got a glimpse of Heaven opening up. He saw a large sheet falling to earth. We're told beginning in Acts 10.12 that, ''In it were four-footed animals and reptiles on the earth, and the birds of the sky. A voice said to him, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat.'' Peter learned that day that the gospel was not only intended for the Jew, but for the Gentile. That glimpse helped change the world!! It gave Peter a renewed passion for proclaiming the gospel to the Gentiles.
It's not unusual for God to give us, what I call: Glimpses of Grace. That's what we find with the Old Testament Tabernacle. Every facet of the tabernacle, God gives us a glimpse of grace starting with the entrance. For example, there was only one gate and that gate was a picture of Jesus who said in John 14.6, ''I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'' And in John 10.9, ''I am the ...
