How Will You Be Remembered? - Part 2 (2 of 6)
Series: The Garments of Glory
Dr. Ernest L. Easley
Exodus 28.1-5; 31.1-6,10
The theme for Vacation Bible School this summer was ''Destination Dig.'' All week long, the boys and girls were digging for bible truths like a miner digging for gold. But rather than digging for gold nuggets, they were digging for golden nuggets of truth.
So, for four days, they dug in the Old Testament in search of New Testament truths. And do you know what they discovered? They discovered the same thing the Ethiopian official discovered while riding in his chariot back home! You say, ''Ernest, what's that?'' That you can find Jesus throughout the Old Testament!
Do you remember what the Ethiopian was reading that day? He was reading from the scroll of Isaiah!! And we read in Acts 8.35 says, ''So Phillip proceeded to tell him the good news about Jesus, beginning from that Scripture.'' What scripture? Isaiah 53!
When I hear someone say that they don't read the Old Testament because they're not under the law but under grace, I want to say, ''You'd appreciate and live out your salvation by grace to another level by reading and studying the Old Testament!''
The Old Testament is full and filled with Jesus!! Any good miner whose digging for gold is always on the lookout for what? Gold. And any good bible student whose digging for Jesus-truth is always on the lookout for Jesus-truth whether you're digging in the Old Testament or digging in the New Testament!! There is Jesus-truth in both Testaments; you just have to look for them.
That's why we need a healthy diet of both Testaments; it helps supply a balanced diet needed for a healthy, spiritual life!
Last time together we started a new series of messages under the heading ''The Garments of Glory.'' And of course, I'm talking about the garments worn by the High Priest. Now I can hear someone thinking, ''Why would we study the garments worn by the High Priest? What do they ha ...
