Never Underestimate God (18 of 50)
Series: Genesis
Donald Cantrell
Genesis 18:1-33
Theme: Nothing is too hard for the Lord
I - The Lord's Divine Appearance ''Invitation'' (1 - 8)
II - The Lord's Delightful Assurance (9 - 15)
III - The Lord's Dreadful Announcement (16 - 22)
IV - The Lord's Decisive Acceptance ''Intercession'' (23 - 33)
In the sermon before us we find Abraham sitting in his tent door looking out over the Plains of Mamre and three men approach him, one is the Lord Jesus Christ and the other two were angels.
This is what we call a ''Christophany'' and there are many of them in the Old Testament. The bible makes it clear that Jesus is all throughout the bible:
Jhn 5:39 KJV - Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Christophany comes from two Greek words; Christos, which means Christ, and phaneroo, which means to be revealed or to manifest. Therefore, a Christophany is a visible manifestation or appearance of Christ before His human incarnation.
Appearance to Abraham (Genesis 18)
Appearance to Jacob (Genesis 32:22-32)
Appearance to Joshua (Joshua 5:13-15)
Visit to Hagar (Genesis 16:7-14)
Visit to Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22:11-18)
Visit to Jacob (Genesis 31:11-13)
Visit to Moses (Exodus 3:2-6)
The Fourth Man in the Fire (Daniel 3:25)
Abraham is going to have a divine experience with the Lord and it will be great.
The NFL's Most Underestimated Player
In 2017 Brady dug out his old NFL Scouting Combine.
