1 Corinthians 9:24
I believe [1 Corinthians 9:24] is one of the most inspirational… and motivational verses in the entire Bible. In that verse, Paul says, “24 Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize.”
When I read that verse, it pumps me up. It makes me assess my journey and evaluate my pursuit… as a Father… a Husband… a Pastor… a Friend… and a CHRIST FOLLOWER… and it reminds me that in this life, I’ve only got one shot to get these things right.
I’ve got one race and Paul says… “You better run hard. Run that race with full intention of winning it!” And listen to me… I don’t know about you… but I want to WIN! I want to experience VICTORY!
But can I just tell you… in my experience, there are times in the middle of that race, when my side starts to hurt and I get winded… there are times when I get knocked down, and it’s hard to get back up and start running again.
Are you able relate to that today? You’re running the race God called you to run… You’re trusting God… You’re making your way around the track… and then all the sudden… LIFE HAPPENS… TRAGEDY strikes… You experience an unexpected SETBACK… You come face to face with an OBSTACLE that you’re not sure you can ever overcome.
Have you ever been there before? Has your family been there before?
You lose your job and have no idea what to do next.
Your spouse walks out on you and says they’re never coming back again.
Your parents get divorced or just make dumb decisions that continually disappoint you.
Your child or grandchild becomes a prodigal and is running away from God.
Your loved one gets sick or even worse, passes away and you’re the one left asking God, WHY? Why them? Why now?
Let me ask you… How do you overcome obstacles like that in the family? After you get your feet knocked out from under you… ...
