John 21:1-14
I love to eat breakfast. The word ''breakfast'' means ''to break the fast.'' Since it means to ''stop fasting'' it literally means to ''stop stop eating.'' Most of us LOVE to stop stop eating.
I heard about an old man and old lady that were home one afternoon and the man asked for ice cream. Then he requested chocolate syrup on it with sprinkles and crushed peanuts: He continually said, ''Write that down or you will forget it.''
The lady brought back 2 friend eggs, coffee and OJ, grits and toast with a side of applesauce He said, ''I KNEW you'd forget. I said I wanted my eggs scrambled!''
Even though I'm not a morning person, I love to eat breakfast food. To me there is no time of day that isn't a good time for grits and eggs, ham and bacon, and toast and sausage.
There's no time of day that's a bad time for pancakes and syrup. And by the way, in the South, the word ''syrup'' rhymes with the word ''stirrup. Not SEER-UP. That's what sissies and communists eat.
Business Insider Magazine recently posted a list of what 12 of the world's most successful people eat for breakfast. Margaret Thatcher likes grapefruit and coffee. Richard Branson, the billionaire eats fruit salad and mueslix. Now ''Mueslix'' is German for ''pieces of cardboard in milk.'' Warren Buffet says he likes a ''mix of coca-cola and ice cream, which we peons know is called a ''coke float.''
But in the last chapter of John's gospel we read about an incredible breakfast of fish and bread. And whether you like that menu or not, or whether you like breakfast or not, we would all do well to pull up a seat and ''stop stop eating.''
Because this breakfast is being cooked by the Lord Jesus Himself over an open fire. And as the Good Shepherd becomes the Good Chef He bids His disciples, ''Come and have breakfast.''
