John 20:11-23
Our 72nd lesson in our ''iBelieve'' series takes us back to the greatest event in human history, the bodily resurrection of Jesus. In our last lesson in John we examined the resurrection historically and doctrinally. Today I want us to go further with the risen Christ and see how the resurrection impacts us personally.
I am thankful that the resurrection of Jesus is true HISTORICALLY and DOCTRINALLY. But I have also experienced it PERSONALLY. You ask me how I know He lives? I know He lives because of what the Bible says and because He lives within my heart.

The theme verse of John is John 20:31 - ''These have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing, you may have life in His name.''
And the life that comes from repentant, believing faith in Jesus is not going to be an ordinary, average, or common life...it will be a life empowered by the very resurrection of the Son of God.
Paul said he wanted to know Jesus and the ''power of His resurrection.'' What does that mean? While it means a lot of things beyond the scope of this message, the effect of the resurrection of Jesus on the disciples in John 20 give us some insight into how it should impact us.
Next time as we encounter ''Doubting Thomas'' we will see a man who had not full encountered the risen Jesus. But today we see the effects on those who did. What does that change look like?

If pride is the mother of all sin, ingratitude is one of her favorite children.
Stated more simply, the resurrected life never gets over the fact that it was dead as a doornail in the grave of sin and the tomb of iniquity...UNTIL the resurrection power of Jesus quickened your soul and made you alive in the L ...
