As our Bibles open again to the 18th chapter of John, we are in the final moments of our Lord's life. We are mere minutes away from the flogging post and a couple of hours away from the cross. In fact, our study next week will focus on the crucifixion.

The kiss of betrayal has been planted.
The arrest has been made.
The words of denial have fallen from the lips of Simon Peter.

The beating of Jesus has already begun as part of the religious trials that filled the night. As the sun rises on the morning of the Calvary, we witness the full, final, and fatal rejection of Jesus.

But it's against the backdrop of this rejection that we see the brilliant glory of Jesus shining through. This passage is not about the Jews, Pilate, or the crowd at Passover. It's about Jesus.

John 20:31 - ''These have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing you may have life in His name.''

Today we are going to see Jesus in the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy...that He will be despised and rejected. And I want you to see that His rejection was what I'm calling, ''The Best Worst Decision Ever Made.''

In his autobiography, ''Just As I Am,'' evangelist Billy Graham recounts a major event that happened in 1950. He was preaching in Portland, Oregon at a crusade when two men challenged him to begin a radio program. Graham did not want to be on the radio so he flippantly told the crowd he would do it if they raised the needed $25,000 that night.

Of course, that was a huge sum of money in 1950. By the end of the evening only $24,000 had been raised and Graham figured he was off the hook. Returning to his hotel, he found that two people had left envelopes containing $500 each. Sensing the providence of God, Graham soon began a 30-minute, weekly radio program that stayed on the air for nearly 65 years.
