And soon our King will appear. We're in a series of messages on the second coming of Jesus Christ entitled, ''Our Coming King.'' And these messages are taken from the books of First and Second Thessalonians. And so turn with me to Second Thessalonians chapter two, Second Thessalonians chapter two as we continue in this exciting, thrilling and challenging subject, Our Coming King. And we have told you that Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth, livable, visibly, actually. Christ is coming again. What a thrill that is to even anticipate His coming. As has well been said, we ought to live as though He died yesterday, rose this morning and were coming back this afternoon. For well indeed He may, and even so come Lord Jesus. I begin to read chapter two, verse one. Now we beseech you brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.''

Years ago, I read of a man who always wanted a barometer. So he bought one, a very expensive model from Abercrombie and Fitch, very expensive, minutely calibrated barometer to tell the weather. He wanted to set it somewhere in his house, perhaps on his mantle so he carefully unpacked it and he looked at it and the needle was pointed to the sector that says hurricane. Well he shook it. It still didn't adjust. He shook it again but the needle just stayed that way. He said, ''Well, as much as I paid for this thing and now I have a defective barometer.'' He lived on Long Island, and on his way into the city, he was a commuter, he sat down and he wrote a scathing letter to Abercrombie and Fitch for sending him a defective barometer. When he arrived back at Long Island, the barometer was gone and so was his house because that was 1938 and the great hurrican ...
