This past Thursday Yousef Gujjar was set free by a Pakistani court. He'd been charged with brutally killing a young Christian couple by burning them alive in a brick kiln. Shahzad Masih and Shama Bibi, were the parents of four children. Their murderer was set free because the Christian couple had been deemed guilty of blasphemy. Their crime? They reportedly converted to Christianity and burned several pages of their old Koran.
Why do things like that happen?
On Easter Sunday as we gathered for worship, 74 Pakistani Christians were killed in a terrorist bombing that injured over 300 others. The Taliban in Pakistan claimed responsibility and confirmed that the group was targeted because of their worship of a resurrected Jesus.
Why do things like that happen?
On an admittedly different scale, Kelvin Cochran was one of the most decorated fire fighters in the history of the nation. At one point he was the top fire fighter in the entire country. But he was summarily dismissed from his job as Atlanta's fire chief...That's Atlanta GEORGIA...USA...fired because he wrote a book that spoke of the sin of homosexuality.
Why do things like that happen?
Curt Shilling will be recorded as one of the best pitchers to ever play the game. His bloody-socked victory in the World Series is one of the most incredible accomplishments in the history of baseball. Yet this past week he was fired...deemed unfit to serve as a baseball commentator on ESPN. Why? Had he lost his mind and forgotten basic rules of the game? No, he made a Facebook post that suggested men should go the men's bathroom and women should use the ladies' room.
