We're in a series we've entitled, ''Jesus: Greatest of All Time.'' That's why we sing songs that say Jesus is the anthem of our heart. As we open His Word, we see how great, awesome and marvelous this Jesus is. We've chosen to look at the book of Hebrews for the entirety of this school year. Little by little as we're going through this letter, we're learning how Jesus is in fact the greatest of all time. We will have a vibrant, healthy and robust walk with our heavenly Father when we put Him above all else.

Hebrews was written to first century Jewish believers who were ready to give up on Jesus. They had come to love the Jewish law, patriarchs and prophets, and while that was good for them to do, it was only a preview of what God was going to do in the person and work of His Son. God's promise was given through the prophets and was reviewed over and over again at each Passover feast. There was One coming Who would be greater than all others and He would save us from our sins. But sadly, against all the pushback of a culture that was against Christ in their day, these people wanted to give in.

This letter has been a treatise of Old Testament history, Old Testament religion and the Old Testament Mosaic law, with all of its traditions and rituals. These people were steeped in this. Jesus came to fulfill all of it through His death, burial and resurrection. Now the text tells us that He is making intercession for us as our great High Priest forever. He has taken care of the problem that was held against all of us.
