Are you a planner?
It's easy to make a plan. It's much harder to stick to a plan.
I can PLAN to go on a diet and eat healthy. That's a good plan... but when somebody puts a warm cookie in front of you... or delivers hot donuts to your office.... it's hard to stick to the plan. Amen!?! You know it's true!
I can PLAN to work out and lift weights... [in fact, I have. I joined the YMCA in 2018... I pay my dues every month. And guess what? I've been twice.] Making plans to work out is one thing... but consistently showing up to the gym and putting in the work is something else.
It's easy to make a plan. It's much harder to stick to a plan.
That is true in our lives... but it's also true in our faith.
There's a big difference in KNOWING God's plan and FOLLOWING God's plan.
The first one is much easier than the second one. You say...
• ''God wants me to serve in the nursery so other parents can attend church''-and that sounds great, until you get in there and have to change poopy diapers for an hour on Sunday.
• ''God wants me to plant a church in the West... Become a missionary overseas''... And that sounds like a lot of fun, until you get there and you experience the isolation and the spiritual oppression and the persecution. It's hard!
Just because you know God's plan doesn't mean it's easy to follow God's plan.
• A great example of that is Marriage Vows-nobody that says their marriage vows is already thinking about how their marriage is going to end. We all recognize God's plan in that moment, and we say, ''until death do we part,'' but then we get down the road a little bit and we're like, ''Man, this marriage thing is hard.''
There are many times in life, when following God's plan is hard...
You and I know that. We've experienced that in our own lives... but we've also seen that play out in the life of Paul these last several weeks as we ...
