I consider myself the luckiest guy in the world. Not only do I have the privilege of serving as you Pastor... but God has also blessed me with 2 great kids and an incredible... INCREDIBLE wife.
[If I'm being honest...] It's hard to believe that Audra and I have been married for over 20 years, especially when I think back to those early days before we tied the knot.
I know it's hard for you to imagine... but I wasn't necessarily the greatest guy when I was 19 years old. I wasn't considerate... I wasn't compassionate... I was a selfish, sinful, punk-kid. And there were many days, when Audra would have been completely justified in walking away.
At that point in our relationship, I was really consistent when it came to making dumb decisions... and it wasn't a secret that she was the stable one... and I was the wild card.
I can remember my own Dad looking at Audra just prior to our wedding day and saying to her in all seriousness, ''Are you sure you really want to do this? It's not too late!'' He might as well have said, ''RUN!'' But thank the Lord... she didn't run.
Instead, she stuck with me during some difficult days back then... and she made (I forget how she put it... I think she said...) ''The best decision of her life!'' (That's a paraphrase, but I think it was something like that...)
But seriously, God blessed that-and we became partners-a dynamic duo that could have very easily ended like Kobe and Shaq... like Sonny and Cher... like Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee (Too soon? My bad...) but you know what I'm saying. We could have been just another breakup... just another statistic.
Breakups happen in relationships all the time, in just about every area of our lives (at school, work, amongst our friends and family members)... but I think we'd all agree that the last place you expect to hear about breakups... is in the Bible. [That's what we're going to ...
