Jesus Christ is our victory. The Bible says, that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Today we continue our series, iBelieve, a verse-by-verse exposition of John's gospel. While there is nothing inherently wrong with topical or thematic preaching, the best long-term diet for the believer is expositional preaching, moving through books of the Bible.

So today's lesson is the 28th installment of our study in John and it brings us to the 8th chapter of this 4th gospel...and to this question: Have you seen the light?

The country music world is waiting with beer-stained breath for the release of a new movie about the life of Hank Williams. Scheduled for release in the early part of this New Year, the movie chronicles the short but storied life of the legendary country singer.

If you're familiar with the songs of Williams you know many of them told the story of a life ravaged by various forms of sin. Whether he was struggling with a Cold, Cold Heart, Your Cheating Heart, or a Tear that had fallen in his beer, most of his life he was so lonesome he could cry.

But 5 years before his drug-induced death he penned a song that actually speaks of a repentant life.

I wandered so aimless, life filled with sin I wouldn't let my dear Savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night, PTL, I saw the light

Whether or not the country singer really saw and embraced the light of the gospel before he died is not for me to say. But based on the words of Jesus, seeing this gracious light is our only hope of salvation.
