There's something engaging and exciting about a new season. What sport's fan doesn't get excited about the upcoming season? Every new season brings with it the possibility of winning and a chance at a championship.
Just as a new sports season brings with it the possibility of a winning season and a chance at a championship, a new sermon series brings with it the possibility of a growing season in our walk with God.
In a new sports season: we anticipate our favorite team playing and winning, seeing how they've improved from last season, watching the contribution new team members make to the team and improvements from the previous season.
In a new sermon series: we anticipate growing in our knowledge and understanding of the word of God, discovering new insights for living, having our faith strengthened and our desire to live godly in Christ Jesus deepened. And like a new sports season, you don't want to miss a game or a gathering in fear of missing out on something special.
Now having said that, take God's word and turn with me to Exodus 28 as we begin a new series of messages under the heading: The Garments of Glory! And like a new season, let me encourage you to decide right now not to miss a single message in this series. It's like deciding to be in bible study and worship on Sunday; that decision needs to be made on Saturday. Sunday morning is not the time to decide if you're going to church. That's a Saturday decision! And the time to decide to be here for every message is right now, not next Wednesday!
