These verses were a little difficult for me to put into sermon form until I remembered the theme verse of the book. Remember that one of the last verses of John is like a key hanging by the back door that unlocks the entire gospel.

John 20:31 - ''These things have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing you may have life in His name.''

John wants us to know this GOSPEL is about Jesus Christ.
In fact, the whole BIBLE is about Jesus Christ.
Truth is, this CHURCH is to be all about Jesus Christ.
This SERVICE is to be all about Jesus.
This CONFERENCE is to be all about the Crucified and Resurrected Son of God.
In fact, these verses remind us It's All About Jesus.

In the late 1990's a British worship leader named Matt Redman was serving a church in England. The pastor began to feel that the worship music had become a show and the worship band had begun to compete with the Lord Jesus for the focus in the service and the glory in the church. So for several months, the pastor led the church to worship without any music at all.

At the end of that extended time period when the pastor finally allowed the singing to resume, Matt Redman, had written a song about what the Lord had shown him as a musician and a worship leader. It's an instructive word for us as a church,

I'm coming back to the heart of worship,
And it's all about you, It's all about you, Jesus.
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it,
When it's all about you, It's all about you, Jesus.

In no small irony, this song became a HUGE hit among worship leaders with some giving the impression that you really needed to be singing this song if you were really going to worship.

You heard me right. There seemed to be a notion in the minds of some people that if you were really going to worship the Lord, you MUST BE using this song about the unimportance ...
