How Does a Sinner Get Saved? (3 of 75)
Series: The Gospel of John

John 1:6-13
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. And throughout our series in this fourth gospel we will see a connection between the Lord Jesus and salvation.
John 3:17 - ''God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but so the world through Him might be saved.''
John 10:9 - ''I am the door. If any man will enter by Me he shall be saved.''
Beyond the words of John, this is the unanimous testimony of Scripture. Jesus Christ is the Savior.
Luke 19:10 - ''The Son of Man has come to seek and save that which was lost.''
Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other
1 Timothy 1:15 - Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners
On one occasion, I was talking to a lady on the phone. She had visited our church from another denominational background. She asked, ''Where do Baptists get the word 'saved' you talk about so much?'' I had to be careful because I wanted to answer her question without insulting her. Because the answer is, ''From the Bible!''
Acts 16:31 - ''Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.''
Romans 10:13 - ''Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.''
Ephesians 2:8 - ''For by grace are you saved through faith!''
In 20:31 John gave us his purpose statement - ''These things have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing you may have life in His name.''
Today as our study of John continues we're asking and answering the question, ''How does a sinner get saved?'' We are continuing to dissect the opening comments of John, commonly called the prologue. These first 18 verses of John really outline the book. And today we see how a person can come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and have life in His name.
