John 1:1-5
Jesus Christ is the Lord of All. He is Lord of heaven and earth.
He is Lord of the mountains and valleys. He is Lord of the land and the seas.
He is Lord of the wind and the rain. He is Lord of the entire universe.
One day every knee will bow, every tongue will confess as all of creation brings forth the royal diadem and crowns Him Lord of All.
We've just started a series of messages in John's gospel under the title, ''I Believe.'' Having spent time in an introductory lesson we come now to the beginning of our exposition of John's gospel. So we'll start at 1:1 and examine the first 5 verses in a message entitled, ''Somebody Out to Testify.''
Near the end of this book John told us the reason he wrote this account is so that we ''may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and the believing we may have life in His name.''
For 21 chapters in our Bibles John serves as a witness under Divine oath as he gives testimony about the Lord Jesus. In fact in John 21:24 the writer refers to himself as a witness who has testified and has entered a true testimony. But he doesn't force you to merely take his word for it. He uses this gospel to call other witnesses and enter other evidence.
John records 7 signs as evidence.
Ch. 2 - Water to Wine
Ch. 4 - Heals a nobleman's son
Ch. 5 - Heals a lame man at Bethesda
Ch. 6 - He walks on water and feeds the 5,000
Ch. 9 - Heals the man born blind
Ch. 11 - Raises Lazarus from the dead
John recruits 7 saints as character witnesses.
1:29 - John the Baptist - ''Behold the Lamb of God...''
1:49 - Nathanael - ''You are the Son of God.''
6:69 - Simon Peter - ''We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.''
7:41 - Crowd - ''This is the Christ.''
11:27 - Martha - ''I believe You are the Christ, the Son of God.''
20:28 - Thomas - ''my Lord and my God...''
20:31 - John Himself - ''Jesus is t ...
