A Mother's Day Message

Intro/Attention
Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you have already had a wonderful day and I’m sure it’s only going to get better as we study God’s Word together and you get to spend some time with your family after church this morning.

I want you to turn to Psalm 8 this morning and I’m preaching on the subject, A Baby Changes Everything. If you have a child, you most certainly know this is true. And I can attest, with five children, that each baby most certainly brings its own changes, challenges, and joys.

There’s a specific verse in Psalm 8 that I think makes this a Mother’s Day psalm. We will zero in on verse 2 as we think about our subject today, but we will look at the entire psalm as we study this morning. READ TEXT Do you see that phrase in verse 2? “Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength…” (ON SCREEN) We will talk about what that means as we honor our moms and worship Jesus today.

*One day, a little girl is sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly notices that her mother has several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast to her brunette hair. She looks at her mother and inquisitively asks: “Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?” Her mother replied: “Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.” The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then asked: “Mommy, how come all of grandma’s hairs are white?”

If you’re here today and you’re a mother, I just want you to know how grateful we are for you. We literally would not be here without you. Literally. It’s absolutely true. But beyond that, we want to thank you for your hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. There’s no such thing as a perfect mother, we all know that, but we thank you for your faithful example.
