A Father's Day Message
It is Father's Day and today we want to send a special thanks to all you Dads out there. We honor you and thank you for all you do. It's not easy being a dad but it's worth it. I've been in the occupation of father for 33 years now. A father is not just a name. It carries with it a great responsibility. We include in this definition of fathers: stepdads, adopted dads, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, dads-to-be and spiritual dads because there are little ones that are looking up to you.
Here is part of the job description of a father.
• Protector - dads want to protect their children from being hurt physically and emotionally. They protect their homes from intruders, and that includes keeping evil spirits from entering. The protector is a watchman on the wall.
• Provider - this can be one of the most challenging - to strike the balance between providing and being present
• Teacher - there are always teaching opportunities
• Trainer - even if you've never done it before, you are their first trainer. Lenny riding a two-wheeler at 2.
• Talent Developer - It's wonderful to discover the talents in your children.
• Priest - Spiritual leader in your home. Set the example. Bring the Word. Pray over your kids. Lead family devotions.
• Playmate - story of playing with the grandkids in pool
• Servant - Jesus said, ''greatest among you shall be the servant of all.''
• Weatherman - keeping the climate and atmosphere in the home.
If there has ever been a time we need men to step up to the plate, it's now. The most important responsibility of fathers is to be PRESENT. The presence of the father in the home. Not just physically there, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually there.
When we look at the condition of our country, I think we would all agree: America needs prayer. We have fallen away from God and godly principles. We have forsaken the Word of God. We have broken ...
