When Romanian was under the control of Communism, Bela Karolyi coached their gymnastics team. He skillfully developed the talents of stars such as Nadia Comaneci who was the first gymnast to receive a perfect 10 score in the Olympics. In 1976
she won 3 gold medals and in the 1980 Olympics she won 2 more.
During her career she won a total of 9 Olympic metals.

For his success in training athletes who were bringing fame to his Communist country Bela was rewarded with an expensive car and many other favors. But he hungered for freedom. So, one day in 1981 carrying only a small suitcase, he resolutely walked out of Romania without anything into liberty in the United States,
leaving behind everything he had worked so hard to achieve.

Living in freedom was more important to Bela than living
in bondage with privileges. The freedom we have in Christ
is much more valuable than the bondage of legalism.

DECISION TO FORGET THE PAST COMPLETELY :7
But – in contrast to all of those physical advantages he enjoyed because of his Jewish heredity and his sincere spiritual zeal to
the OT law he was willing to give it all up so that he might a
have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ his Savior.

Heaven would be better than life on this earth.

When Paul looked at his past it saw it in a different perspective.

Loss – Gk. used of commercial or business loss where the merchandise or product was ruined and therefore worthless.
Acts 27:10 Paul warned the captain of the ship not to sail
because it would, “bring great loss to the ship and the cargo.”

Those things that used to be so important to him no longer had
any significance in his life now that his sins had been forgiven.
