Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's here with us and also watching today online. Thank you for all you do in serving the Lord and serving your families. Husbands take your wives out to dinner or cook yourself... if you can take her out, no reason to punish her. Call your mama. Call your grand-mamas. And give thanks to God for the moms... and the women in general in your life that God has used to form you.
We are concluding a series of messages today title, ''The Bible Doesn't Say That.'' - Today, we look at a thought that encapsulates what a lot of people think it means to be a Christian, to be right with God. The idea that, ''being good can justify you'' or ''being good is how you go to Heaven'' that we are saved by our goodness. - A common answer to how does one get to Heaven... ''Believe in God and be a good person.''

Now as Christians, we should know... this is NOT what the Bible teaches. But this can infect the church too. - There are people in the church that think the basic message is ''be a good person.'' Some think it's what we DO or DON'T DO that determines whether or not we are right with God, justified, in good standing, on our way to Heaven.

This is a common belief outside the church too. - A lot of people are trying to justify themselves before God, before others, before themselves... by what they DO or DON'T DO. There is a human tendency to JUSTIFY ourselves. People do this with ...
Viewpoints -They seek to defend themselves as right on everything. Achievements - They strive to prove themselves through their accomplishments. Morality - They strive to be morally pure as possible.

Many people live their lives STRIVING to MEASURE UP. Many live their lives believing they DO MEASURE UP... that they are good enough. Many die trying.
The Bible teaches something totally different. - The message of the Bible is that we can't justify ourselves ...
