Do you know what it feels like to feel trapped in adversity. To feel like NOTHING is going your way? To feel like even when you do right, things go wrong?

In those seasons life can be hard. - In those seasons... temptation can be strong.

You can be tempted to take shortcuts, to not wait on the Lord, to take matter in your own hands. - If you are suffering at the hands of others you can be tempted to seek revenge.

David had what we call the wilderness season. - It was a season where at times he was living in a cave. - Listen to what he wrote in this season of life, in one of these cave experiences likely recorded in 1 Samuel 22 or 24.

Ps. 142:1-4 - With my voice I cry out to the LORD; with my voice I plead for mercy to the
LORD. 2 I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him. 3 When my spirit faints within me, you know my way! In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. 4 Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul.



Times of incredible difficulty happen to people in the Bible.

Job - Things are going GREAT. Then he loses his home, his kids, his health, etc.

Joseph - Has a dream of his brothers bowing down before him and the next thing he knows he's a slave, then a prisoner for something he didn't do.

Today we will pick up with David on the run from King Saul. The hero is now seen by Saul as an enemy. - David has lost much and is on the run. But today we will see...

David in one swoop could get vengeance and a kingdom. He could end his season in the wilderness. - But to do so... he must sin, he'd have to compromise. - In this moment... David would have to learn to place his confidence in the Lord... even in the caves of life.
