Hebrews 10:19-25
In the last several chapters of Hebrews the writer has made the case that Jesus is the GHP, that He has offered a better sacrifice, and that He has enacted a new and better covenant.
When you get to chapter 10 he continues making the case about Jesus' sacrifice. He wants to drive home for this people the truth that what Christ has done on the cross has changed everything. There is no way anyone should look back to the old way or for that matter consider going back into the world... in light of Who Christ is and what He has done.
The very heart of chapter 10 is 10:19-25. -It's the hinge on which a whole new section is begun in Hebrews. - In 10:19-25 the writer begins focusing on Christian living in light of Christian doctrine. Most NT epistles tend to have a doctrine portion and then how to apply that.
Starting here the writer begins to call even more on us to apply the truth to our lives. - Remember, the main call of Hebrews, the main application is to PERSEVERE.
Hebrews 10:19-25 - Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
