ILLUS. - The Incredible Hulk- As a child I was a big fan of the old Incredible Hulk TV show starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner who would magically transform into Lou Ferrigno, the Hulk, when he got ANGRY. I remember Dr. Banner would say when someone was angering him. ''Don't make me angry, you won't like me when I'm angry.'' --- I loved pretending to be the Hulk, and throwing pillows or smaller cousins around like fleas. I loved imagining having that kind of power. --- We all have a little Hulk in us. We all have the ability to get angry and to turn into someone that no one likes. - Today we are going to talk about this powerful emotion.



Currently when you look around our nation you see lots of anger ... We need to understand... anger is dangerous. It can be very destructive.

If not dealt with in a healthy way anger can be very destructive... The Mayo Clinic lists headaches, sleep issues, digestive problems, heart issues, and high blood pressure as things anger an make you more at risk for. - It's not healthy or wise to be angry all the time.

In Numbers 20 we get an incredible look at an angry moment from one of the heroes of the faith. In this passage Moses gets angry, sins, and it cost him very dearly.

Context: When we pick up here in Numbers the people of God are wandering in the wilderness. You may recall in the OT God's people were enslaved in Egypt for 400 years. Then God raises up Moses to lead them out of slavery.- God promised to take Israel to the Promised Land, a land flowing with mild and honey. But Israel began to rebel and ended up wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. During this time Moses was their leader.



Numbers 20:1-13 - And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And Miriam died there and was buried there.
