September 1st
Gen 32:12 KJV - And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
Jacob is now beside the brook and he is fearful for his life and the life of his loved ones. His brother Esau is before him and his uncle Laban is behind him, he has no other recourse but to trod ahead and waits to see what happens. As he sits beside this brook he reminds the Lord of his past promise of making his seed into a great and mighty nation, and now he must trust and wait.

Gen 32:21 KJV - So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.
The plan is now in place as Jacob hopes to appease his brother, as his servants go to meet Esau, we find Jacob staying behind with his family. He does not know what the sunrise might bring him, so all he can do is trust in the promises of his God and enjoy his remaining moments with his family. The atmosphere must have been filled with perplexity as Jacob sit by that brook.
