Do You Want More?
Steve Wagers
Job 42:12
Leo Tolstory tells the story of a man who could have all the land that he would walk around in a day. By the end of the day, the man had covered hundreds of acres, but fell over dead of exhaustion and dehydration. They dug a grave 6' long by 3' wide. Tolstoy asked, ''How much land does a man really need?''
A recent survey asked people, ''What would you do for $10 million dollars?''
35% would abandon family
25% would quit church
23% would be a prostitute for a week
16% would leave their spouse
10% would without testimony/let murderer go free
7% would kill a complete stranger
3% would put kids up for adoption
We live in a society that craves more. Politicians want more Power. Millionaires want more Money. Governments want more Control. Children want more Toys. Dying want more Time. Everybody wants more.
More GOLD than GOD - More LAND than LORD
More THING-dom than KING-dom
Asked a millionaire - ''How much is enough?'' - ''Just a little more''
THOSE NOT SATISFIED WITH JESUS WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED WITH THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD
You can have as much of the things of God that you want. Do you want more?
The book of Job BEGINS and ENDS with Job. He lived and he died. In between, the story of his life is told. The end of the story reveals how he got MORE of God's more.
1) The PATH of More!
Those who get more of God's more walk a special path. God doesn't give His more to everyone. It is EXCLUSIVE not INCLUSIVE!
A) A Path of HOLINESS (1:1-8)
Perfect - Not SINless/BLAMEless
Feared God/Eschewed Evil
He LOVED God/He LOATHED SIN
Job got in trouble not because of what he had done WRONG, but because of what he had done RIGHT.
I used to want God to brag on me until I read the book of Job - that's what God him in trouble!
Those that have experienced more of God's more have been those who have lived lives of DEDICATION - SEPARATION - CONSECRATION
B) A Path of HONESTY (1-4)
Job admits ...
