A Song When You've Been Done Wrong
Steve Wagers
Psalm 11:1-7
The Bible is the ultimate HIM-book. Every HYMN is all about HIM.
From the FIRST song of DELIVERANCE in Exodus 15 to the FINAL song of DOMINION in Revelation 19 singing has a vital place in the Word of God.
God Himself is the chief singer.
(Zephaniah 3:17) ''The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.''
Psalm - The Hebrew Songbook (Sang coming out of captivity - to the feasts - ascending up the steps to the Temple)
Psalm 11 - Ascribed to the Chief Musician of the Temple choir. David wrote it during a troublesome time in his life. When he had been done WRONG, he wrote this SONG.
(1) ''In the Lord put I my trust'' - A Glad Refrain
1) The AGGRESSION of David's FOES!
A) RELENTLESS in Their ASSAULT (2a)
Remembrance of the times Saul hurled his javelin at David to kill him. David was God's Man - Saul was Man's Man. David had not wrong Saul - Saul had wronged David.
B) RUTHLESS in Their ATTACK (2b)
''Bow/Arrow'' - Cowardly weapon. Concealed. Shoot undetected.
''Privily'' - ''in the dark'' (Privately) - When no one sees
We have an enemy who DOESN'T PLAY FAIR. Relentless in his assault and ruthless in his attack. ADVERSARY - ACCUSER - ANTI-CHRIST
His ''bow/arrow'' are ''fiery darts''. Unnoticed - Undetected - Unexpected
FLATTERY to your FACE
FIRE behind your BACK
2) The ADVICE of David's FRIENDS!
(2-3) David is repeating what his friends have said - ''HOW SAY YE TO MY SOUL?''
A) FOOLISH Advice (1)
No mention of God - Faith - Assurance - Hope
They tell him to fly away like a bird.
