I. Introduction

Welcome to Mission Hills at all of our locations. So glad you're with us today. This is a special weekend because it's baptism weekend here at Mission Hills and I think we have about 60 people getting baptized in our services this weekend, which is so exciting. I love seeing people get baptized.

We originally had baptism scheduled for last weekend, but I very selfishly asked that we move it back a week so I wouldn't miss it. I was in India last week, visiting with a couple of our Global Outreach Partners, and it was an incredible experience. I got to spend some time doing some development with church planters and I got to preach at a very large church in Hyderabad...but by far the best part of the whole trip for me was getting to see a number of men and women get baptized at one of our partner's training centers.

There were a couple of things about the baptism service that really struck me. First, it was physically intimidating for them [explain]. Second it was socially intimidating for them. [explain]

So why would they do it? Because they understand that what we have in Jesus overshadows what the world threatens to take away..

We're going to get to those baptisms shortly, but before we do that, I want to unpack that truth a little bit. I'd love for you to go ahead and grab a bible and make your way to John 16:25. We're actually closing out our series When Everything Falls Apart today and the passage we're going to look at is going to tells us four things - four promises from God that we have by faith in Jesus. Four things that enable us to face difficult circumstances well.
